PATTERN INFORMATION

TRAFFIC PATTERN Cleveland Municipal Airport

Departures (local):

  • After takeoff on the appropriate runway, maintain the runway heading until the aircraft reaches 1500 feet MSL.

  • At 1500 ft. the pilot may depart on a 45 degree angle toward the pattern, straight out or on course.

  • No departure may cross over the airport, or cross the pattern in any nonstandard turn below 2000 feet MSL.

  • If remaining in the traffic pattern, commence turn to crosswind leg beyond the departure end of the runway within 300 feet of pattern altitude.

Arrivals (local):

  • Aircraft arriving to the Cleveland airport shall listen to the Cleveland AWOS on a frequency 124.17 about ten miles from the airport. If the pilot is unable to obtain the current conditions, or is unsure of the landing runway, then the pilot shall listen constantly for other traffic in the Cleveland area. This could provide active runway information.

  • If a pilot is unsure of the actual runway in use, the pilot should call Unicom and request an “airport advisory”. If there is no response the pilot should fly over the airport at 2000 feet MSL, observing the windsock to determine current wind conditions. If the pilot is still in doubt, the pilot may inquire as to the wind conditions from DSU base.

  • When the proper runway has been identified, the pilot shall enter on a 45 degree entry for downwind at pattern altitude.

  • If arriving from the opposite side of the downwind cross midfield at 2000 feet AGL. Do not descend until you have reached a point in which you are starting a turn to enter the 45 for downwind entry.

  • The proper radio procedures shall be used and a constant scan for other traffic shall be maintained. All arriving aircraft must give way to aircraft already established in the traffic pattern.
